This Privacy Policy is issued in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA) of the Republic of South Africa. It describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the RU Unalive? mobile application and associated services.
RU Unalive? is a safety check-in application developed and operated by The K Hub ("we", "us", "our"). We are the Responsible Party as defined under POPIA, responsible for determining the purpose and means of processing your personal information.

All our service providers are bound by appropriate data processing agreements and are contractually required to maintain confidentiality and security of your data.
We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, or other legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own use.
Your personal information is stored and processed using Google Firebase infrastructure, which may be located outside the Republic of South Africa, including in the United States of America and other countries.
These transfers are made in compliance with POPIA Section 72. Google LLC is subject to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and maintains appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses and binding corporate rules. By using the RU Unalive? app, you consent to the transfer of your personal information to these jurisdictions.
Where data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives protection equivalent to that required under POPIA.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the service. Specifically:
When you delete your account, all personal information stored under your profile is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

The RU Unalive? application is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from persons under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 18 without appropriate consent, we will delete it promptly.

Our website (ruunalive.cookedlabs.co.za) is a static informational site. We do not currently use cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics tools on this website. No personal information is collected simply by visiting this website.
The mobile application itself does not use cookies. Firebase may use session tokens for authentication purposes — these are functional tokens required for the app to operate and are not used for advertising or tracking.
